https://www.wyze.com/policies/privacy-policyWhat Wyze Collects and Why
Wyze collects a wide range of personal data when you buy and use their products. This includes the obvious stuff — your name, email, address, and payment info — but also much more sensitive data depending on which devices you use. If you own a camera with Friendly Faces enabled, Wyze collects facial images and biometric measurements of every person who appears in your camera's view, not just you. If you use a Wyze Watch, Band, or Scale, they collect heart rate, body fat percentage, muscle mass, weight, and other health metrics. Your cameras also continuously generate video and images that are stored and analyzed.
How Your Data Is Used — Including for AI Training
Wyze uses your data to run their services, but also explicitly to train and improve their AI models and algorithms. If you enable "Descriptive Alert," an AI analyzes your camera footage to generate text descriptions of activity. If you consent to helping improve their services, your videos and the AI-generated descriptions of them may be used to train Wyze's machine-learning systems. Wyze also states it may purchase personal data from third parties to use in developing AI models. Your data is shared with advertising partners to target you with ads on other websites and apps — this may count as a "sale" of personal information under some state laws.
Third-Party Sharing and Advertising
Wyze shares your data with a broad set of third parties: web hosting, payment processors, fraud prevention vendors, customer support tools, data analytics providers, and advertising networks including social media platforms. They use your email address or phone number to match you to ad profiles across the web. Some of this sharing is considered a "sale" under California law. Wyze does say it will not sell or share facial/biometric data.
Your Rights and What to Watch Out For
Depending on your state, you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing privacy@wyze.com or calling (844) 999-3226. You can opt out of targeted advertising via the "Your Privacy Choices" link in the website footer, or by using the Global Privacy Control browser signal. Account data is kept as long as your account is active, or up to 3 years after inactivity before deletion. Facial data from Friendly Faces is deleted within 180 days of canceling that service. Your data may be transferred to and stored in the United States or other countries that may not have the same privacy protections as your home country.
