Spotify User Guidelines – Plain-Language Summary

This document sets out the rules for what you can and cannot do when using Spotify's apps, websites, and services. The core idea is straightforward: don't abuse the platform, don't steal content, and don't try to game the system. Violations can get your content removed or your account suspended — and if Spotify has ever banned your account before, you're not allowed to come back under a new account.

Things you absolutely cannot do include downloading or redistributing music without permission, scraping or crawling Spotify's data, using bots to inflate play counts or follower numbers, selling your account or playlists, blocking ads, bypassing geographic content restrictions, or sharing your password with others. These rules apply regardless of your reason for wanting to do them.

Content you post must not be illegal, impersonate someone else, contain malware, solicit personal data from others, promote spam or pyramid schemes, or include anything that was previously removed from Spotify for breaking its rules — including reposted versions of banned content. You also can't post anything that exposes confidential third-party information or your own sensitive personal data.

Spotify can update these guidelines at any time, and the latest version will always be on their website. There is no grace period or notification requirement mentioned — so it's worth checking back occasionally if you're a creator or heavy user.
