What This Document Is

This is Netflix's Terms of Use — the contract you agree to when you use the service. It covers who can use Netflix, how billing works, what you can and can't do with content, and — critically — how any legal dispute with Netflix must be handled.

Using the Service

You must be 18+ to create an account. Netflix is for personal, household use only — you can't share it with people outside your home unless you pay for an Extra Member slot. What you can watch depends on your country and subscription plan; content changes without notice. By using the service, you automatically receive software updates and agree to Netflix's ongoing testing of features on your account (you can opt out of tests in Account settings).

Billing

Subscriptions auto-renew and payments are non-refundable — including if you forget to cancel before the next billing cycle. Netflix can charge backup payment methods if your primary one fails. You'll get at least one month's notice before price changes, and can cancel before they kick in. Ad-free plans may still show some ads during live events or where streaming rights require it.

Your Legal Rights Are Significantly Limited

This is the most important part for most consumers. By default, you give up your right to sue Netflix in court or join a class-action lawsuit. Instead, disputes go to private, confidential arbitration — no judge, no jury. You also waive the right to a jury trial for any claims that do go to court. You have 30 days from first accepting these terms to opt out of the arbitration requirement by emailing Opt-Out@netflix.com. If you miss that window, you're locked in. Netflix can change these terms at any time with one month's notice for material changes.
