What This Is

This is Discord's Terms of Service, effective September 29, 2025. It governs everything you do on Discord — messaging, voice/video, sharing content, and buying features. It incorporates Discord's Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and several other policies by reference, so agreeing to this means agreeing to all of those too.

Your Content

You keep ownership of anything you post, but you give Discord a broad, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, copy, distribute, and create derivative works from your content — essentially to run and improve their service. You are personally responsible for making sure you have the right to post whatever you share. Discord can remove your content at any time if it decides the content violates rules or creates risk, and it can share your content with third parties if it believes the law requires it or to prevent harm.

Disputes and Your Legal Rights

This is the most consequential section for most users. If you live in the US or Canada, you must try to resolve disputes with Discord by email before doing anything else, and you largely give up your right to sue Discord in court — disputes go to private arbitration instead. You also waive your right to join a class-action lawsuit. You can opt out of arbitration by emailing arbitration-opt-out@discord.com within 30 days of September 29, 2025 (or account creation, whichever is later). If you don't opt out, this binding arbitration clause applies to all future disputes. You only have one year from when a problem arises to file any claim.

Account and Termination

Discord can suspend or delete your account at any time, for almost any reason, with or without notice. Your content may not be recoverable if your account is closed or the service changes. Discord's liability to you is capped at either what you paid in the last 3 months or $100 USD — whichever is more.
