What This Policy Covers

This is Anthropic's privacy policy for people who use Claude.ai, the Anthropic website, and related consumer products. It does not cover Enterprise/business customers (they have separate agreements), and it does not cover how Anthropic trains its AI models on data from people who never signed up — that's in a separate "Non-User Privacy Policy."

What Anthropic Collects and Why

Anthropopic collects a broad range of data: your name, email, and payment info when you sign up; everything you type into Claude (your "Inputs") and what Claude produces ("Outputs"); technical data like your IP address, device type, browser, and cookies; and if you verify your age or identity, potentially a government ID scan, a photo or video of your face, and facial geometry (biometric data). Your conversations may be used to train Anthropic's AI models unless you opt out in account settings — but even if you opt out, conversations flagged for safety review or ones you explicitly report can still be used for training.

How Data Is Shared

Anthropologic shares your data with its own affiliates, with service providers (hosting, analytics, fraud detection), and with third-party services you connect to Claude (like apps via plugins or APIs). When Claude takes actions on your behalf through a third-party integration — sending a message, reading a file — your Inputs and Outputs go directly to that third party under their privacy policy, not Anthropic's. Data can also be shared in a merger or acquisition, or with law enforcement when Anthropic believes it's legally required.

Your Rights and Controls

Depending on where you live, you may be able to access, correct, download, or delete your data. Deleted conversations are removed from your history immediately and purged from Anthropic's back-end within 30 days. You can opt out of having your conversations used for model training in your account's Privacy Settings. Anthropic says it does not sell your personal data, and you can opt out of targeted advertising. Residents of Canada, Brazil, and South Korea have additional rights described in regional supplements at the end of the policy.
